Work out exactly what Stripe charges and what you keep. Enter the amount a customer pays to see the fee and your net, or switch to gross-up mode to find the charge that nets you a target amount. The rate and fixed fee are editable for any plan or currency.

How to use the Stripe fee calculator

  1. Pick a mode: enter a charge you receive, or a net amount you want to keep.
  2. Set the percentage and fixed fee to match your Stripe pricing and currency.
  3. Read off the processing fee, the charge and your net payout.

Examples

A $100 card payment

Charge $100 at 2.9% + $0.30
Fee $3.20, you keep $96.80

Netting exactly $100

Gross up a $100 target at 2.9% + $0.30
Charge $103.30 so $100 lands after fees

Frequently asked questions

What are Stripe's standard fees?

Stripe's common online card pricing is a percentage of the charge plus a fixed fee per successful transaction, often 2.9% plus 0.30 in the US. Rates vary by country, card type and product, so the percentage and fixed fee here are editable.

How do I pass Stripe fees on to the customer?

Use gross-up mode. Enter the amount you want to keep and the calculator finds the higher charge so your net matches the target after the fee. The formula is charge = (target + fixed) / (1 - rate), then fee = charge minus target.

Will I fully recover the fee by grossing up?

Grossing up recovers the fee on your target, but the larger charge also carries a slightly larger percentage fee, so the customer pays a touch more than the raw fee. The calculator accounts for this so your net is exact.

Do international or currency-converted cards cost more?

Yes. Stripe usually adds extra fees for international cards and currency conversion on top of the base rate. Raise the percentage or fixed fee here to model those surcharges for your region.

Is the fee taken before or after payout?

Stripe deducts the fee per charge, so your balance and payout are already net of fees. The 'net' figure here is what reaches your bank account before any refunds, disputes or Stripe subscription costs.

Does this calculator send my numbers anywhere?

No. The math runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored.
