PayPal Fee Calculator

Work out the PayPal fee on a payment and what you actually keep. Switch to gross-up mode to find the amount to charge so your payout lands on a target, and edit the rate for your account or country.

How to use the PayPal fee calculator

  1. Pick a mode: the amount you receive, or the amount you want to net.
  2. Enter the amount, then adjust the fee percent and fixed fee for your account.
  3. Read off the fee, your net payout, or the amount to charge the buyer.

Examples

charge $103.30, fee $3.30

Frequently asked questions

How are PayPal fees calculated?

A typical PayPal fee is a percentage of the payment plus a small fixed fee per transaction. The calculator uses fee = amount times the percent, plus the fixed fee, and your net is the amount minus that fee.

How do I figure out what to charge so I receive a specific amount?

Use gross-up mode. To net a target after a percent and fixed fee, charge = (target + fixed) divided by (1 minus percent/100). The calculator does this for you and shows the resulting fee.

Are PayPal fees different for international payments?

Usually yes. Cross-border and currency-conversion payments often carry a higher percentage and an extra fixed amount. Both the percent and fixed fee are editable, so enter the rate that matches your situation.

What about micropayments?

For small payments, PayPal offers a micropayment plan with a higher percentage but a much lower fixed fee, which can work out cheaper on tiny transactions. Try both rate sets in the editable fields to compare.

Why is the exact fee sometimes a cent different?

PayPal rounds each transaction to the nearest cent, and rates vary by account, country and product. Treat the result as a close estimate and confirm the exact figure in your PayPal account.

Does this tool send my numbers to PayPal?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored or shared.
