Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the referral fee and the FBA fee?
The referral fee is a commission Amazon charges as a percentage of the selling price, usually around 15%. The FBA fulfillment fee is a separate flat charge per unit that covers picking, packing and shipping the order. This tool adds both.
How do I estimate the FBA fulfillment fee?
Fulfillment fees are based on the packaged size and weight tier of your product, not the price. Look up your item in Amazon's current FBA fulfillment fee table, or check the fee preview in Seller Central, then enter that flat amount here.
What referral fee percentage applies to my product?
Most categories use 15%, but it ranges from about 8% to 17% depending on the category, and some have a per-item minimum. Check Amazon's referral fee schedule for your category and enter the matching percent.
How is profit margin calculated here?
Profit is net proceeds minus your product cost, where net proceeds equal the price minus the referral fee, fulfillment fee and any other costs. Margin is that profit divided by the selling price, shown as a percentage.
What other costs should I include?
Use the optional other costs field for per-unit expenses the main fees miss, such as monthly storage, prep or labeling, advertising spend per sale, and an allowance for returns. Adding them gives a more honest profit figure.
Is this an official Amazon calculator?
No. It is an independent estimate that runs entirely in your browser using the numbers you enter. Amazon fees change over time, so confirm the current rates in Seller Central before pricing a product.
