Frequently asked questions

Is this refund policy legally binding or legal advice?

No. This generator produces a plain-language template to help you get started. It is not legal advice. Refund and consumer rights differ by country and state, so you should review the result and, where it matters, have a qualified lawyer check it before you publish.

Is my information sent to a server?

No. The policy is assembled entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type, including your company name, contact email or website, is uploaded, logged or stored by us.

Can I write a no-refund or no-returns policy?

Yes. Turn returns off and set the refund window to zero, and the document states that all sales are final while still noting the exceptions many laws require, such as faulty or misdescribed items. Check that an absolute no-refund policy is allowed where your customers live.

Why does the wording change for digital or subscription products?

The policy adapts to what you sell. Digital goods are framed as delivered instantly and refunded at your discretion, services cover only undelivered work, and subscriptions explain cancellation and renewals. This keeps the policy realistic for your business model.

What is a restocking fee and should I charge one?

A restocking fee is a percentage deducted from a refund to cover inspecting and repackaging returned goods. It is common for physical products but optional. If you set a fee in the tool, a clause describing it is added; leave it blank to omit it.

Where do I put the finished policy?

Most stores link a refund or return policy from the footer and from the checkout page. Paste the text into a dedicated page, or download the .txt file and format it to match the rest of your site.
