Frequently asked questions

Is the contract created in my browser?

Yes. The agreement is assembled entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type, including names, fees or terms, is uploaded to a server or stored anywhere.

Is this template legal advice?

No. This template is for general informational purposes only and is not legal advice. Laws differ by jurisdiction and situation, so consult a qualified lawyer before you rely on or sign any contract.

What does the intellectual property choice change?

If you choose 'client', the freelancer assigns ownership of the deliverables to the client once payment is received. If you choose 'freelancer', the freelancer keeps ownership and grants the client a license to use the work. The IP clause wording updates to match.

What is the difference between a freelancer and an employee here?

The agreement includes an Independent Contractor clause stating the freelancer is not an employee and handles their own taxes, insurance and benefits. That distinction matters for tax and labor law, so confirm the classification fits your arrangement.

Can I edit the agreement after generating it?

Yes. Download the .txt file or copy the text into your word processor and adjust any clause. Empty optional fields show bracketed placeholders like [deadline] so you can spot what still needs filling in.

Does it work for any country or currency?

You can enter any governing jurisdiction and any currency code, and the governing law and fee clauses update accordingly. The structure is general purpose, but local law may require extra or different terms, so have it reviewed.
