Frequently asked questions

How do you convert an hourly rate to an annual salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by the hours you work each week, then by your paid weeks per year. At $25/hr for 40 hours over 52 weeks that is 25 x 40 x 52 = $52,000 a year.

Why does the default use 40 hours and 52 weeks?

Forty hours is a standard full-time week and 52 weeks covers the whole year. If you take unpaid leave or work part time, lower the hours or weeks to match your real schedule.

How is the daily figure worked out?

The daily amount assumes a standard 8-hour day, so it is your hourly rate times 8. It does not change with your weekly hours, since a day of work is still 8 hours.

Is this gross or take-home pay?

These are gross figures before tax, insurance and other deductions. Your actual take-home pay will be lower. Use a take-home pay or paycheck calculator for net amounts.

Do you store the numbers I enter?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server or saved, so your pay details stay private.
